Dear Fellow Engineers, Distinguished Delegates, Partners, and Friends across ASEAN

It is my great pleasure, on behalf of the Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII) and the
ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO), to welcome you to the 44th
Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 44), to be
held
in Bandung, Indonesia, from 20–22 October 2026.
As the host organization, PII is honored to bring together the ASEAN engineering
community in one of Indonesia’s most dynamic cities, a city shaped by innovation,
education, industry, and a long tradition of collaboration.
For more than four decades, CAFEO has served as a platform that strengthens regional
connectivity and advances the role of engineering in addressing society’s evolving
needs. Today, as ASEAN enters an era defined by technological acceleration,
industrial
transformation, sustainability challenges, and growing demands for resilience, the
engineering profession has an even greater responsibility to lead meaningful
progress.
CAFEO 44 is envisioned as more than a conference. It is a platform to exchange
ideas,
foster partnerships, and inspire collective action toward a future that is
innovative,
inclusive, and sustainable.
Bandung provides an ideal setting for this shared ambition, bringing together
heritage
and modernity, knowledge and industry, local excellence and regional collaboration.

future.
It is therefore fitting that we gather here for the 44th Conference of the ASEAN
Federation of
Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 44).

Mega Mendung Cloud Motif
Symbolism: Harmony, Humanity, and Regional Connectivity
Inspired by the Mega Mendung batik motif of Cirebon, West Java, this element expresses harmony, patience, and balance. The eleven cloud forms signify the eleven ASEAN countries represented within the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO). Together, they capture regional connectivity, the exchange of knowledge and innovation, and a shared commitment to addressing future challenges through cooperation.
Gunungan
Symbolism: Harmony, Transformation, and a Shared Future
Inspired by the Gunungan of traditional wayang, this element symbolizes the universe, balance, and the beginning of a new journey. It signifies the harmonious relationship between humanity, nature, culture, and progress—values that remain essential in an era of rapid technological and industrial advancement.
Together with the Gedung Sate silhouette, the Gunungan conveys Bandung's role in shaping ASEAN's future through engineering innovation while remaining rooted in cultural heritage, wisdom, and human values.

The circular composition evokes the unity and connectivity of ASEAN nations. It further reflects the principle of shared prosperity—a collective commitment to ensuring that the benefits of development are equitably distributed, fostering inclusive growth and long term well-being throughout the ASEAN community.
AFEO Logo Symbol within the Letter "O"
Symbolism: Innovation and Connectivity
The AFEO symbol embedded within the letter "O" highlights the organization's commitment to advancing collaboration, connectivity, and innovation across the ASEAN engineering community.
Its spiral form resembles a turbine or an energy vortex, affirming modern engineering, collaborative energy among ASEAN engineers, and the integration of industry, technology, and creativity. The dynamic motion of the symbol reflects continuous innovation and ASEAN's ongoing journey toward a resilient, connected, and future-ready region.

The logo's central element is inspired by the silhouette of Gedung Sate, one of Bandung's most iconic landmarks.
